Tony felt something other then just the whiskey move around inside him, Elli was the only person in his life the meant anything now, without really thinking he started to move back though the other messages when he came across on that Jenny had sent a few days ago
“Why weren’t u there ?”
He sat there just looking down at the words, blinking a few times trying so hard to push the memory away but the alcohol wouldn’t let him it filled the dark places relegating his imagination, helplessly and without thinking he poured what was left off the bottle into the glass.
Taking up the glass he held it up to his face and though the golden liquid he hid and distorted the words on the screen, playing like this he kept his mid away from the memory and pain, but after a few minutes it all came back, darker heavier than before it over took him.
Putting down the glass, he griped the neck of the bottle as if it was a club waving it over his head as the pain rose and built, Tony staggered to his feet and turned around the window, holding the bottle higher he let out a loud scream and threw the bottle into the sink.
It hit the inside with such force that it fragmented and spilt, the neck came away first it rolled around a few seconds as the small metal seal came away, the rest of the bottle broke into more as it smashed itself on the side of the sink.
Tony looked down at the remains, at how sharp the pieces were now, then with half a idea he reached for one larger fragments as he did the song changed it stopped being wild and loud, it be came soft, it was Jenny she was singing Ave Maria, it been recorded at the club after hours the same times the pictures had been taken.
He turned away from the sink he tried to move but his legs buckled under him, he fell he didn’t even try to stop himself he just let it happen on the way he hit his right arm on the stool, but the with all the alcohol inside him he never it.
He pulled his legs up close, rocking a little, the song ended but that didn’t matter the whole house was peaceful now, Tony let the glass shard fall to the floor as he passed out.
Everyone turned to see were the sound saw coming, Alec’s jacket was still over the arm of the settee, Alec walked quickly over and began searching though the pockets, first he reached into the right he felt the tennis ball but didn’t find what he was looking for, he tried the other but when he did find his phone it had stopped ringing he saw the number on the screen but didn’t know it.
Turing back towards Lisa he tired to smile warmly as he put his phone away and folding his coat over his arm,
“I would like to come back tomorrow.”
He held out his free hand, shaking a little Lisa took it and she gave him a hug.
“Please find out who did this. “ She said almost in a whisper
They let go of each other and Alec give a little nod across to Kyra
“You have my word, whatever happened I’ll find who’s responsible.”
Kyra was the first to make her way over towards the door opening it a little, she didn’t step outside only when Charlie walked across to join her did she put one foot outside, Alec was the last to leave giving both the woman a small nod.
Outside a few yards away was Lynn sat inside the police car waiting, she didn’t mind this would count as over time she spotted Alec and two other people making their way towards the end of the street each with a heavy look on there faces.
Charlie was looking for Ian or his car, not finding it he stopped and waited for Alec to reach them.
“We’ve got a lift back to the station.”
He walked over to the waiting Lynn and got in the front passenger side, a few seconds later Kyra and Charlie joined them.
“Kyra, Charlie this is WPC Lynn Russell.”
As Lynn drove back to the station she kept her eyes on the road not sure what to ask suddenly Alec’s phone started to ring again, this made the four of them jump a little, this time he was able to answer it before it stopped.
“Mr Prideaux, its Deborah we met this afternoon.”
Alec took the phone away from his ear and pressed speaker phone, so the others could hear.
“Yes I remember .”
“You said I could talk to you.”
“Whatever you want to tell me, will be fine.”
Kyra and Charlie had both turned to the phone.
“I’m not sure that it would, you see it maybe.”
“It’s Ok Deborah it will make you feel better if you tell me.”
“Well you see Jenny and I were friends..”
there was a long pause
“Deborah, are you still there ?”
“Yes I’m, I mean that Jenny and I were close.”
