as they came round he put the car into the right lane facing a network of lanes most of them travelling wide and to the right.
At a set of lights Ian chose to stay on the right as they made their way around the curve of the road, the two lanes travelled level with each other until they passed an orange and grey building selling pre-packed flooring, the road opened up even wider as two lanes became three, two which made there way arise heading past a small bus shop and a row of shops.
Ian carried on past the shops but stayed on the right hand side of side the road, facing them as they moved along the road was a white coloured pub called ‘The Dusty Miller’ just as before the road split but this time into four each side of the pub, As the light went from red to green the sky filled with dark clouds then ruptured, spitting out a huge sheet of rain, Ian drove thought the lights and followed the road around to the right of the pub, but two thirds of the way up the road it became two and a short incline.
On each side of the road were houses, until it curved again this time to the right and houses were replaced with a small stone and fence, just as the wall ended there was a small junction travelling down into Woodhill Road.
Ian slowed down and took the turning, it lead pass into a mixed housing estate on one side were brick council houses and other smaller sand stone, the road split off to the right and the road became bumpy, Charlie noticed it was a cobble street for the next four yards, then tarmac again.
As they made there way down the road it was clear that most of the council homes were privately own with differently coloured boors and windows, the road became narrow with traffic claming measures the road spilt off again but this time to right.
The turn lead deeper into the estate it was set out in a half moon shape, trees lined each side further back off the road lay the houses in front of a few were parking spaces, Both Charlie and Kyra counted the numbers as Ian drove the car about half way around until he found a space just next to a tall green tree only a few feet away from number 45, but with the rain it seemed longer.
Ian switched off the engine and the sound of the rain beating down on the roof was the only thing they heard, Ian took a deep breath and undid his belt, Alec was the first to get out of the car, Charlie was next standing just under the tree, Kyra did the same by sliding along the back seat pushing the file into her coat, Ian slowly opened his door and driven under the tree, Alec was standing a few feet away hands deep in his pockets, his coat pulled to each side letting the rain just fall all over him.
“Let’s go then.”
Alec headed towards number 45, Charlie, Kyra and Ian followed a few steps behind.
From a distance number 45 looked just like the other semi-detached houses in the row, with the same PVC windows and dark brown front door, it was only when you got to the front gate could you tell that whoever lived here had taken time to add there own personality, the garden may have only the size of a stamp and covered over in grey stone flags but around the edge someone had put small flower boxes full of yellow and blue blooms.
In what Charlie guessed was the front room windows were long white vertical blinds on which was cast the shadow of someone moving around the room, the up stairs windows were yellow pulled down blinds, looking back down at the front door Alec saw even as the rain came down one of the widows were open letting in fresh air he opened the gate and crossed the garden in three strides.
He waited until the others had joined him and slowly reached for the door bell, as he did though the open window he heard the sound of a woman singing.
“Got me lookin so crazy right now your kiss, got me hopping you’ll save me right now.”
In his head Alec join in with the next few words, he took a deep breath and pushed the bell hard it rang with a loud ping, a few seconds later the sound of the singing stopped and the music was switched off and the shadow disappeared
“Just coming.”
Nothing happen, Alec glanced back at the others then back at the door as he heard the sound of a lock being opened.
A little puzzled and bewildered looking first at Alec then Ian and the others, was an auburn woman dressed in a baggy white T-shirt and a pair of blue jeans with red flowers running down then she had nothing on her feet, she didn’t look a day over 25, her soft blue eyes told a different story in the corners there was thin age lines, it was clear she had been dancing
“Yes can I help you ?”
The woman brushed her hair out of her eyes, Alec was taken a back a little, then Ian stepped in,
“Mrs Lisa Blake?”
“It’s Miss, but never mind, what do you want ?”
Alec pulled himself together and took a deep breath
“Miss Blake, we’re the police, may we come in?”
The rain was getting heavier now, pushing Alec’s fringe down his face, Lisa glanced from Alec then Ian moving her feet around on the rough door mat
“Do you have any kind of ID?”
Each in turn took out their ID’s and show Lisa
“Thank you.”
Lisa handed back Kyra’s ID and stepped to one side
“You better come in.”

set of lights but beyond them was a huge round-a-bout covered in freshly cut green grass and in the centre was a four foot wicker statue of an old woman sat in a rocking chair.
    “Were are we Boss, Summerisle?”
Alec drove the car around to the right of the round-a-bout then though the gap between two traffic lights he headed up the road towards the town centre with rows of shops and a car park on the other
Charlie was surprised by an old brightly painted wooden goods truck the kind steam engines once pulled, it had been filled with multicoloured flowers, Alec moved the car into the centre of the road just before an opening in the on coming traffic.
As they when right there was a row of late Victorian houses on the right on the left was the grey and glass building Kyra had seen, she saw a familiar coloured sign and a tall blue lamp which proclaimed the building to be Bury Police Headquarters
Even thought the road was dead end Alec didn’t stop he drove the car past the enormous steps of the entrance, he headed towards the small fence which marked the end of road, but just before he got there he slowed down and turned the wheel left rolled up the almost hidden entrance of the station car park, he stopped the car a few inches way from the red and white barrier which lay above the entrance, just to the right was a small dirty yellow poll with a small intercom.
Alec drew the car level with it and let down his window, the intercom buzzed into life
    “Can I help you ?”
Alec reached thought the open window
“DCI Alec Prideaux, to see DCI Ian Curtis.”
There was no answer from the intercom but the barriers was lifted a few seconds later, The first few rows were full so Alec drove around to the right it was only when he was making his way back towards the entrance, did he see a space which he skilfully put the car into.
He took a deep breath and undid his seat belt, without saying anything he slowly got out, Kyra put the pages of the report back together and inched her way out, Charlie moved to the right hands side of the seat he used a free hand to open the door being as careful as Kyra had.
He took out their coats, giving Kyra hers and Alec in turn she gave him the folder, he put on his own, Kyra had made her way around to the back of the car when saw Alec looking up at the fourth floor she couldn’t see what he was looking at, to her all that was in front of her was huge grey pebble building much like the one they had come from.
“Should I get the boxes ?” she asked to the back of his head
Alec didn’t seem to hear her so she asked again, this time he did turn around but his face didn’t look as if he’d any idea of what had been said
    “Excuse me sorry?”
    “The Boxes,”
Charlie rested his arms over the roof of the car, then the penny dropped
“No, first we see Ian, then Jenny’s mother.”
He pointed his keys at the car and locked the doors, then taking his coat pushed his hands into the pockets and headed back towards the entrance a few seconds later Kyra and Charlie followed, together they reached the steps
Entering the station they found themselves stood in a wide reception area it looked more like the reception of a corporate bank then a police station, everywhere was painted in soft warm colours of blue and grey, on their left hand side was a set of three doors inset in the wall, the right side of the room was taken up by a row of soft padded chairs but behind them was a mirrored wall and a small blue door, facing them was a wide desk was a young brunette woman working away at a computer keyboard what was a little odd she was wearing an everyday office suit.
Alec walked across the floor to her, she looked up as he reached the desk
    “HI can I help you.”
Alec reached to his coat for his ID
“I’m here to see DCI Ian Curtis, my name is Alec …
He didn’t get to finish because from somewhere above him someone shouted
Alec looked up to see stood on the branch of the staircase were two people, the first one was a man in the late 30’s dressed in shirt and tie hold a long overcoat this was Ian Curtis just to his right there was a woman in her 20’s with short flaxen coloured hair, unlike Ian she wasn’t dressed for going outside, she wore a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, Their made there way down the stairs, Charlie and Kyra join Alec  a few seconds later
“Alec, this Sally Jericho my DS.”
Ian moved to one side, Sally smiled
    “Kyra Harker and Charlie Drym.”
“I have set up a room for us to work in Sir.”
Alec took out his keys and handed them over to her
“I, think you will find everything you need.”
Charlie was about offer some help, but Ian put his coat on and headed to the door quickly followed by Alec and Kyra, Charlie smiled at Sally then ran to catch up
Ian made his way around the car park until he was stood by a sliver family size Toyota Prius, when everyone was set, Ian switched on the engine which gave a soft humming sound in a few seconds they were making it back down the street heading to the round- a-bout, at the junction Ian went left but

As they came up to the junction of Bury Old Road Alec kept the car in the left hand lane as they turned the corner he moved into the right as the road became Bury New Road
“Maybe we should go knocking on doors to find out were she got them from.”
Alec looked up in the mirror again
“Where would that get us ?”
“An idea of what kind of person we’re dealing with.” Charlie answered
    “Hmm…Ok what next ?”
Kyra once again ran her fingers though the sheets of paper
“We another need a word with the other girls.”
“You think they knew,” Charlie asked
Alec made a small humming sound and tapped his fingers on the wheel
“I am not sure there was something.”
“Your both right and that drives me mad, I want to see the girls mother before I decide anything.”
Kyra made a face the movement made Alec twist around and glance across
    “You Ok ?”
“We keep saying ‘the girl’ or ‘the body’ she was called Jenny, I think we should show some kind…”
    “Sorry Kyra I didn’t think.”
“I’m just saying is all, I’m guilty of it to, I guess its hard to think about it that’s all.”
As the car travelled up Bury New Road though the lines of traffic  it slowly became Manchester Road and as if there was some how an invisible boarder between Manchester and Bury the weather outside change once again the rain suddenly stopped the heavy black clouds rolled away and the sun appeared.
Alec couldn’t help himself as he put his foot down on the accelerator pushing the car to 40, there was a feeling deep inside somewhere the pain in his leg begin to pulse a little, Kyra turned to the first page of the file and to the pictures of Jenny, she couldn’t shake the idea that she was looking at two people, there was something in Jenny’s eyes that just wouldn’t go away.
Charlie want back to sitting behind Kyra, as he did the noticed that Alec put had put his foot down he griped the door handle as he got comfortable, there was something driving Alec but not just the desire to solve the case, he looked up at the mirror to see Alec who gave him a wide smile.
Alec made the wide sweeping right turn he was still doing 40 he quickly put his foot on the brake causing the back of the car to side and the pages of the report Kyra was holding to fall into the foot well, she did her best to stop the rest, Kyra became aware that the sky was getting dark again, thinking it was only the rain again she didn’t take any mind of it, she sat back up and the car was surround by huge fur trees.
Coming out of the turn the road became straight, one side was a vast row of the small early Victorian houses on the other however there was a what looked like a Thai/Indian restaurant there was a gap for a side road then a service station selling cars and four wheel drives, then just like Kyra’s side it became houses.
Still bemused by the layout of the road Kyra started to take more notice, the houses became more and more spaced out until there was a small junctions most of the stream of traffic was slowing down as the lights went from green to amber, Alec was able to catch them just before they fully turned red and made it further down the road without changing gear.
They passed a second row of houses much bigger than the last, lager front gardens mostly covered by grass lawns and tall healthily looking plants and flowers, there was a gap in the row filled by a Veterinary clinic, a petrol station and a small car dealership.
Kyra’s view was suddenly blocked by a long single decker bus with a bend in the middle, she couldn’t understand how because it was on the outside lane, looking around she saw that the lane had become a green bus lane, which ended a few yards before a new junction and a set of traffic lights.
Alec moved back into the left once again they become surround by houses but most of them were on the left hand side, just then Alec saw the bus had made it very close behind them seeing the road in front was clear, he put his foot down creating a gap, in a few seconds the road had opened up to reveal a wide swiping fork around a huge traffic island in the centre of the which had a tall white clock tower giving the time as four o’clock.
Taking the left of the two roads Alec headed away from the town centre and past a sandy yellow stone building outside of which was parked an old sliver Rolls-Royce and what was a wedding party, Alec pointed the car almost straight a head as if he was going to drive over one of the traffic  island but with a small turn of the wheel he went left and pulled the car up in front of a set traffic lights.
Looking across the lanes of cars Kyra saw a huge grey and glass building looming out from behind a row of trees and sand stone houses, it looked out of place some how as if it had been dropped in around all this old construction, she looked across at Alec who sat there watching and waiting for the lights to change the was something in his eyes which made them shine a little with excitement, she wasn’t sure but he was smiling.
Letting his foot slowly from the brake as the light went green, Alec kept the car right as the road way spilt into two lanes, it became a wide sweeping junction as they carried on along it Charlie suddenly tapped the back of Kyra chair and pointed out towards the front window, they were heading for another
