All The Right Words – The Ipcress File by Len Deighton. 

The following  blog will have Spoilers for the ipcress files film starring Michael Caine and spoilers for the book of the same name.

Recap-Harry Palmer switches jobs Brief to find the gentleman who may have killed the agent looking after the doctor on the train, codename Bluejay. Harry finds the gentleman in the scientific library of the British Museum. But fails to stop him leaving. So ends up going frist the office to tell his new boss and then second home were Courtney is waiting for him.

Chapter Five- The morning after Harry’s friend Jock is showing him how to fill in a report form when the police ring they are holding a man called housemartin, He and Jock head to the station when they get there an officer says ‘Mr Mr Palmer and another man have just left but they will be returning shortly.’ Harry shows the officer his ID.

The man in the cell is dead, Harry wants to see the change sheet, Together him and Jock work out were the man has been and Harry rings hos old friend at Scotland Yard. Jock and Harry head to the address

Just as the Flying squad are about to raid the place Dalby turns up, asking who called the raid, Harry says he did thinking Dr Radcliffe could be inside the place is empty and the flying squad boss is not to happy but Dalby says they were late by ten minutes taking the heat away from Harry.

Harry finds that stove is still warm and inside it there a bit of tape with Ipcress stamped on it, Dalby says to give to tec back at base to see want they can make of it.but the tape as lot odd sounds which no-one understands.

End Of Chapter

Differences between- It Would appear that we have completely lost a few of beats the most noticable one being the Dalby and the spy blowing up the car of the US army. And Dalby putting the him in charge. We still have the police ringing the spy and the finding of the tape which done in the same Sequence with Harry Palmer having a history with the policeman.
