On May 13, 2005 Star Trek on television was dead with ending of the prequel show know as Star Trek Enterprise, it would only live in repeats and in the feature films which at that time only run to 10,
So the fans did want they always do they wrote fan fiction, the same they had done to the keep the memory of The Original Series in 1969 but with now in the age of computers and mobile camera phones they were not only able to write it but live it too, not only that but using the whole history of the six shows they were able to build there own worlds with own ideas and carry on the story.
One such Fan Fiction tail is Star Trek Aurora
Its follows the exploits of captain Kara Carpenter and her new (and only) Vulcan first mate T’Ling on their tiny merchant cargo ship Aurora. and its to my knowledge the only fully CG-animated movie
It is set just after the original Star Trek series in a lawless sector of space, where Kara and T’Ling engage in their marginal venture while trying to both turn a profit and stay out of trouble, but even in the vastness of space, trouble is never far away…and sometimes the past is never far enough behind.
Created by Tim Vining there have so far is one full Pilot film and part one of the second film called Mudd in your I and like all Star Trek fan fiction its free to all.
But with reboot of the film franchise in 2009 with J.J, Abrams at the helm the question is will people want to watch the fan film I guess that its up to the fans
